This Wednesday's 12/6/2013, social night will be all about the tools, equipment and machines. Demonstrations on the safe use of electronics tools, CNC milling, 3D printing and laser cutting.
Word is that someone has invited Van Halen to perform at the Hackerspace. They're a big fan of M&Ms, but as we all know, they don't like the brown ones! We could take them all out by hand, but that strikes us as a little tedious. We're hackers - surely we can build a machine to do it for us!
Your mission is to build a machine that can sort M&Ms by colour. You'll compete with other teams over six weeks to win some great prizes.
A reminder that I'll be running a presentation and demo on 3D printing this Sunday the 12th, from 4:30 PM in the Band Room at the Brisbane Hotel. Come along and see the whole 3D printing process from 3D modelling in Blender, to slicing in Skeinforge, to printing with a Makerbot Thing-o-Matic. If you're curious about 3D printers and want to see one going, this presentation is for you! We'll also have a presentation on modelling with Google Sketchup if you're interested in learning that tool.
